Is this free?

Ooh yes!... so feel free to create as many games as you want!
By the way, did you tell your friends to create their own?

Do I need to create an account?

Signing up is not mandatory and you can create games without creating an account.
However creating one is free, takes only a few seconds, and allows you to:

• save your games and edit them later
• list your games on Pictogame web site for them to be rated and commented by others
• rate and post comments

So we recommend you to sign up.

How do I sign-up?

Just click on "sign up" at the top of any page. You should land on the sign up page.
Fill out the form on the left of the page by:

• choosing a username
• entering your e-mail address
• choosing a password
• confirming your password
• ...and that’s it!

You should then get a confirmation email very soon.

How do I log-in?

You can log-in from any page of the website.
Just click on "log in" at the top of the page, enter your username and password in the appropriate fields, then click on the "log in" button.

How do I change my password?

First you have to log-in.
After logging-in, click on "my profile" on the top-right corner of the page.
Enter your old and new passwords and validate.
That’s it!
You will have to use your new password the next time you log-in.

How do I change my email?

First you have to log-in.
Once you log-in, click on "my profile" in the top-right hand corner of the page.
Enter your new email in the "Update my email" box.
Click on "update".

Lost password. How do I get it back?

Click on "log in" at the top of any page, then click on "forgot your password?".
Enter your username or email in the box called "Lost my password" then validate.
You will receive your password by email.

How can I partner with you?

Click on "Advertiser/Partner" in the footer of any page and fill-out the form to share your thoughts.

How can I flag a game as inappropriate?

Pictogame does not intend to hurt or offend anybody. If you feel a game as inappropriate, please click on the link ”Report this game as inappropriate” on the lower left side of the game page on Pictogame. If you found this game on a third party website, please contact us with the URL where you found this game.

What kind of image can I use?

You can use any personal image or images under creative commons license.
The image formats supported by pictogame are: jpg, gif, png.
You are not allowed to publish copyrighted, unlawful or offending images.
Please check our terms of use for more information.

How do I create a game?

1. Click on “create your own”.
2. Click on “browse” and select a picture from your computer. You can also paste the web URL of the picture.
3. Select a game template.
4. Adapt the image to the template to make them fit.
5. Add funny personal messages at the start and at the end of the gameplay.
6. Save this game.
7. Name your game and enter a short description if you wish.
8. And spread it everywhere!...

How can I customize start and end messages?

Once you tune your image, you can add personal messages.
At the bottom of the "tune your game" box, fill out the following fields:

• Start: this message will appear before your friends start playing. You can invite them to play or just tease them!
• Win: this message will appear at the very end of the game when players win. You can congratulate them for instance...
• Lose: this message will appear at the very end of the game when players lose. You can cheer them up or maybe taunt them!

How can I adjust my picture to the game?

Once you select a picture and choose a game template you can tune your image.

1. Zoom in, zoom out or rotate your image.
2. Click on the picture inside the "dotted" space and drag it to put it in the right position.
3. Click on the dots and drag them to adjust them to the face in your picture.
4. Click on the dots which are linked together and drag them till the bar outlines the mouth.

How can I change the size of my game?

You want to publish your game but the size of the game does not fit your blog or website layout?
You can easily resize it.
First, you need to create and save a game or check the games you have already created.
Once you land on the game page, you can:

• either click on "other sizes" to select pre-formatted or personal sizes,
• or modify the script on your own. The script starts with size information:<object width="410" height="340"...>.

Why add a description or a title to my game?

• This can be useful for people who have subscribed to your games (instead of receiving a blank note in their reader, they know what your game is about).
• When the reasearch feature is launched, it will be easier for users to find already existing games about cats for instance instead of having to create another one.

Can I modify a game I've created?

Only games created while being logged-in can be modified. If you do not have an account, you can create one for free here.
To modify a game:

1. Click on "my games".
2. Click on the game you want to modify.
3. Click the "edit" link located next to your username at the right side of the game.

You can also do it from the "get codes" page of your game: click on the "edit" link in the bottom left hand side of the game.

Can I delete a game I've created?

To delete your game, make sure you have been logged-in while you create it.
To delete a game:

1. Click on "my games"
2. Click on the game you want ot delete
3. A pop up will appear to confirm you want to delete your game: click "ok". Your game will be deleted right away.

How do I email a pictogame to a friend?

From a game page on Pictogame web site:

1. Click on "Email this".
2. Insert the email addresses of the recipients separated by commas (or blanks, or semicolons...).
3. Write any introduction message you like.
4. And click on "Send".

Can my pictogame be private?

To set your game in private, make sure you have been logged-in while you create it.
To set game in private:

1. Click on "my games".
2. Click on the flag; mark this game as private on the game you want to set in private
3. A message will display "Your game is now private". And your game can only be viewed by you on Pictogame.
4. The game will be still available opening a link to its URL

How do I edit my profile?

Games are not the only thing you can share on Pictogame.
Just log-in and click on "my profile" at the top of the page.
You can change your email and password.
You can also share your picture and your web site address so that people can know more about you.

Can I subscribe to a user's game?

If you like some users' creations, you can subscribe to a feed to receive them instanteanously:

1. Select a game created by an author you like.
2. Click on "subscribe to this user's games" next to the RSS icon (the orange one).
3. Select your reader (netvibes, bloglines,...).

How to add some friends on Pictogame?

You've met somebody on Pictogame you'd like to keep in touch? Add him or her on your friend list!

Go to his or her profile

1. Click on Add to Friends, a notification will be sent to him to add you in its friend list.
2. Once accepted, a new profile will appear on your friend list

You can also add through his or her games

1. On its game page,
2. Click on to Add to Friends, a notification will be sent to him to add you in its friendlist,

Once accepted, a new profile will appear on your friend list

How to accept or decline a friend request?

Received a friend request from somebody? When you receive a notification, number of notification will be displayed beneath friend request icon. Then,
You can :

Go to 'My Account'
Click on your friend request notification(s)
or click on friend notifications icon on the Top Menu
Select from friend request who you want to accept, decline or maybe decline and block if you do not wish to have friend request from that people.

How to delete a friend from your friend list?

Somebody is too much in your friend list?

1. Go to 'My Account'
2. Open 'My Friends'
3. Click on 'Remove this friend' on the friend you need to delete.

How to delete and block a friend from your friend list?

Somebody you wish not to see anymore on your friend list?

1. Go to 'My Account'
2. Open 'My Friends'
3. Click on 'Remove and block this friend' on the friend you need to delete and block.

How to send a message to Pictogamers?

You want to contact a Pictogamer?

Be logged in,

1. On its game or hi profile,
2. Click on 'Send a message'
3. Fulfill subject and message text fields then click on 'Send'

You can also,

1. Click on 'My Account'
2. Click on 'My messages'
3. Click on 'Compose a message'
4. Fulfill username, subject and message text fields then click on 'Send'

How to read a message from a Pictogamer?

Pictogamers wrote one or several messages to you? Number of new messages will be displayed beneath messenger's icon.

Be logged in, then,
To read your received messages,
Click on number of received messages, read your new messages (in yellow)
To read your sent messages, click on 'Sent messages' (white when unread, green when read)

or

Click on 'My Account'
Click on 'My Messages' to read your received messages,

How to delete a message?

Click on messenger icon or go to 'My Account'
Click on 'My messages', look for messages check on the message you need to delete,
Click on 'remove'

or

Open the message in your messenger then click on 'Delete'

Pay attention, message deleted can not be recovered

How do I publish a game on MySpace, Friendster, etc...?

From a game page on Pictogame web site, click on "Add to MySpace, Friendster,..." on the right side of the game, and follow the instructions.

How can I start a game?

If you have been invited to play a game by email, click on the link that you received.
If you are browsing Pictogame web site, select a game in the gallery or create your own game.
Once you land on the game page or see a game in a blog, click on the "Play" button and enjoy!
If you can’t see the game, you might have to install Flash Player®.

How can I mute/unmute a game?

Some game templates include music or sound effects.
You can easily mute or unmute your game.
Just click on the "mute" button close to the Pictogame logo at the bottom of the game.

How can I upload a game?

To upload a game, Go to 'upload':

1. Sign up or Log in if needed
2. Fullfil title, description and tags text field
3. Certify that you are agree with terms of use and you are the creator of the game.
4. upload a game icon (GIF, JPEG or PNG - 120x90) and your game (SWF only - max size is 6MB)

Then move on to the second step of the process by clicking on 'Continue'.
If the preview of your game suits you, click on "ok, publish!"

What game format can I upload?

We only support Flash files (swf). Maximum size is 6MB. We do not have any plans to support executables (exe).

What are the guidelines for uploaded content?

Obscene, pornographic, and hateful material are strictly prohibited.
We will watch for a game's quality in terms of playability, user interactions and level design. The ideas is to make you share the best games ever!
The better your game is, the more you could win the monthly contests!
Uploaded games (including all components such as graphics & audio) must be your own original work or you should have permission from the owner to upload it.
Pictogame has absolutely no tolerance for uploading stolen content.
Violators of this policy will automatically receive a lifetime ban. We encourage you to read the terms of use.

Can I edit a game I uploaded?

To edit a game:

1. go to "My Account",
2. click on "My games",
3. click on the "edit game" button next to the game you want

Can I make a game private?

To make a game private:

1. go to "My Account",
2. click on "My games",
3. click on the "mark as private" button next to the game you want

Why isn't my game displayed?

Games that are deemed obscene, hateful, pornographic or stolen (you must be the creator of that game in order to upload it) will be removed from Pictogame.
Offending uploaders may be banned permanently.
If you assess that a game is dishonest or fraudulent, do not hesitate to report it with the function 'flag' below the game or contact us.

Points and Levels (back to top)

What are points and levels?

Points and levels give you a rank on Pictogame.
The more points you earn, the higher level you get.
These levels are the first reward we have created for Pictogame’s most active users.

How do I earn points and gain levels?

For the moment you have four ways to earn points, in the future you’ll have many more.

• You create a game: 1 point
• You comment on a game: 1 point
• You upload a game: 25 points
• You rate a game: 1 point

The idea is to reward users who take part into Pictogame’s life by creating games, commenting other people creations or uploading game.
The more active you are on Pictogame, the more points you will earn.
